Kate has been in the beauty industry since 2003. She was a traveling platform artist & educator for RUSK from 2004-2009. In January of 2006, Kate zealously opened Onyx Hair Studio to provide her hometown of Roanoke with exceptional salon service and experiences with a first class team of stylists that she continually teaches and mentors. Kate is a genuine, confident, well-rounded master stylist with excellent communication skills & a specialty in custom hair coloring. She is truly passionate about her craft and it definitely shows through her vibrant and positive attitude.

Hena loves creating beautiful blondes. She is also very talented at special occasion makeup and braids/updos. Her quirky and fun personality always makes for a good experience! Hena is currently in esthetician school as well, to further her education on skin care. Hena has been at Onyx since January 2018.

Melyssa moved to Roanoke from New Jersey and has placed her roots in Onyx. We admire her eccentric style and artistic brain. She has a super positive, fun personality that you will absolutely enjoy. Melyssa is super talented at custom colors, vivids, and makeup! If you are looking for a true artist, she's the one for you. Melyssa has been at Onyx since January 2022.

Serena has been at Onyx since January 2024 and graduated from paul mitchell school in the summer of 2024. She has a vibrant personality and is very skilled in men’s cuts! She enjoys doing all types of hair, including braids!

Katelyn’s bold and vivacious personality is equal to her skill. She is our tape extension specialist but is also wonderful at balayage/ombre and men’s faded cuts! You will always have a good conversation when in her chair. Katelyn has been in Onyx since December 2017.

Jeanet specializes in seamless hair extensions, non-surgical hair systems, and custom coloring—from lived-in blondes and rich reds to modern vivids. Her passion is helping women feel confident in their hair, especially those experiencing thinning or breakage. She prioritizes scalp health and long-term hair integrity in every service because true luxury begins with healthy foundations. Currently, she offers customized extension and hair system solutions and is expanding into mesh, meshless, and micro-integration systems to provide even more discreet, transformative options. Her approach is gentle, intentional, and deeply personalized, creating effortless, beautiful hair that feels like you. "Looking forward to having you in my chair."

Hayatt has been licensed since 2022 and enjoys more alternative cuts and colors, custom looks, mens cuts, and more! She has a cute quiet personality that we adore! She has been at Onyx since April 2024.

Hayden has been behind the chair since 2017 and is especially known for her expertise with natural texture and curls. She works confidently with all hair types and color techniques..from seamless balayage, vivids, to beautifully defined type 4 curls-always tailoring each service to the individual. A former Assistant Color Instructor and certified Wella Master Color Expert, Hayden combines advanced technical skill with her fun welcoming presence.
